About us

We specialize in accurate digital model creation by point cloud feature extraction.

BimTIM Design was founded in 2021 as a civil engineering company which performed structural design for civil and industrial buildings in and near Timisoara, Romania. Later on, our focus was shifted towards the creation of as-built models from point cloud data done in Autodesk Revit. As our portfolio was growing, so were our capabilities which extended towards feature extractions from point cloud data using TopoDOT and Microstation.

What is Point Cloud Feature Extraction?

Simply put, point cloud feature extraction is the identification of features or objects within point clouds — e.g. visible cracks in a wall, edges visible building elements, a dip in the ground or a slope across a surface. Basically, it deals with anything that can be considered a ”feature” within the scene.

We use advanced tools like TopoDOT and Revit to turn data into accurate models and designs, ensuring precision and efficiency.

3D models in Revit

In 3D modeling, a real-world point cloud data is transformed into a digital representation of the project.

The Point Cloud Scan needs to be modeled in a series of processes, starting with the verification of the point cloud scan and file insertion in Revit. 

Using the point cloud scan data, an as-built 3D BIM is created which can be used for the renovation, refurbishment, retrofit, and reconstruction of the building.

BIM:

  • Help replace thousands of drawings by providing a detailed 3D model on a digital platform;
  • Offer the ability to visualize the design and make necessary amendments to it
  • Have the potential to enhance construction safety management as it identifies all the safety hazards and suggests measures to be taken to ensure the project’s complete safety

The situation plan or site plan functions as a map for a development project, incorporating all aspects of landscaping, construction, paving, utilities, and terrain features in a single depiction.
